WORK IN PROGRESS ON THE FAIRWAYS AND ROUGH

On the advice of the experts at the STRI Tenby Golf Club have recently invested in a new ‘Terra Rake’.  This nifty piece of engineering consists of a robust steel frame containing closely arranged rows of long verti-cutting tines.

These tines are self-vibrating and probe the turf inquisitively, their aggressive action pulling up thatch and depositing it on the surface.  This will help restore some areas of the fairways worst affected by the long Summer drought, as well as thinning out and reducing the dense undergrowth in the rough (and make finding golf balls easier!).

The photograph shows Head Greenkeeper Scott Williams taking the Terra Rake out for its maiden voyage.
