There is much speculation on social media and the internet about when golf clubs will be re-opening, with some even suggesting that May, with certain restrictions, will be the date.
Wales Golf (the governing body for golf in Wales) has published a statement saying that despite rumours and media speculation, nothing has been agreed or announced regarding a re-start date for Wales, or the protocols that will be in place.
This does not mean that Club staff have been taking it easy. There has been plenty of activity in gathering information and guidance for putting in place when the lockdown finally ends. The R&A are working with golf associations to create a reference document, so that golf can resume as safely and responsibly as possible. As soon as these guidelines are available they will be circulated to members in advance of resumption.
Meanwhile, and although two of the greens staff have been furloughed, Scott and Alex have been doing sterling work on the course, working within the R&A essential maintenance guidelines to keep it in great shape. In the past week alone they have cut greens, aprons, fairways and long semi rough; hand watered areas on the 2nd, 3rd, 5th, 6th, 8th, 9th, 20th, 11th, 13th and 16th aprons; sprayed the greens with wetting agent, attain and nitrogen; fertilised tees with a 24-5-8 +mg; and sprayed the fairways with wetting agent and bio-stimulate.
Just to whet your appetite for when it is possible to get back out on the course, we thought that you would like to see a couple of photographs that were taken recently.
